Development Director

The Development Director is a newly created position to expand and enhance fundraising efforts of the VOCES8 Foundation USA. The position will lead and work as an integral part of our fundraising and administrative team to raise funds and ultimately expand the reach of the organization around the country. The Development Director will be responsible for the US organization’s $500,000+ fundraising goal each year and will be the strategic leader of the organizations development efforts. They will develop and cultivate relationships with new and established donors, and will ideally be based in the US.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Development Plan to grow contributed revenue and diversity funding sources, in alignment with organizational growth goals and programming expansion.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to shape the organization’s case for support, donor messaging, and philanthropic vision.

Fundraising Operations

  • Manage and grow a robust portfolio of donors (individual, corporate, and foundations)

    • Attend and lead development meetings (approximately 2 hours/week)

    • Hands-on ownership and management of donor database (Network for Good), ensuring timely and personalized acknowledgement of all gifts.

  • Develop and run new or existing campaigns, mailings, and giving initiatives/programs (Annual giving, Peer-to-Peer, Friends Program)

  • Identify and pursue Corporate Giving opportunities

  • Identify and pursue Foundation/Grant opportunities

  • Conduct or delegate donor research on new prospects and current donors

  • Assist in other fundraising efforts in collaboration with staff and board members

  • Create reports on fundraising and donor efforts

  • Work with board members on planning and hosting donor events each year

  • Support the creation and distribution of Foundation communications and newsletters

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills - comfortable speaking with donors and prospects using multiple methods of communication (email, phone, letter)

  • Personable and passionate as an advocate for The VOCES8 Foundation USA

  • Background in music and/or arts

  • Experience in arts administration preferred

  • Experience in fundraising, development, and major (five-figure) gifts (5+ years preferred)

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Expected Time

This is a part-time, 3 day per week position on average. The desire would be for a few full days each week to be dedicated to the VOCES8 Foundation USA, with additional time as needed by the organization. As a fully remote, national nonprofit, there is a large amount of flexibility. Some travel will be required.

Compensation

Pay Range $35,000 - $45,000. With growth of the organization, expanded opportunities will become available with this role.

The VOCES8 Foundation USA was created in 2017 as a tax-exempt not for profit whose mission is to inspire a love of choral music by sponsoring choral performance, music education, and musician training. The foundation is responsible for a robust array of education work around the US, the US Scholars program, and the professional ensemble Lyyra. We work closely with the VOCES8 Foundation, a UK organization, its CEO Paul Smith, VOCES8, and APOLLO5 to ensure alignment in mission.
